Sales and telesales is an exciting and diverse sector with excellent opportunities for career progression.

Selling is such an important process for many companies that good salespeople are always in demand. If you enjoy interacting and building relationships with people, and love a challenge, this could be the apprenticeship for you.

The intermediate level apprenticeship in sales is made up of several elements:

- Competency-based qualification (NVQ Level 2)
- Knowledge-based qualification
- Functional skills in English and Maths Level 1
- Employer rights and responsibilities (ERR)
- Personal learning and thinking skills

Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals throughout the course, and you receive regular feedback.

The functional skills are assessed by an external exam and portfolio work.

You will learn the knowledge elements of the award through directed study and one-to-one drop-ins with your assessor, which will include practical sessions. You will also work on your key skills, ERR and personal learning and thinking skills.

You get to earn while you learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification at the end. You gain skills that are not only important in the sales sector, but in many other jobs, such as building trusting relationships with people, coming up with creative solutions to problems and thinking independently. You will also gain a valuable insight into the career opportunities that are open to you within the sales and telesales sector.

There are no formal entry requirements for this apprenticeship. Upon application you will be invited in for an interview and an initial assessment to ensure that you are at the right level of learning for the course, and that the apprenticeship is right for you.

Following on from the intermediate sales apprenticeship, you can progress onto the advanced apprenticeship, where you will further your skills and experience within the sales sector.

Job roles that may be available to you include sales assistant, sales representative, and telephone salesperson.
