Engineering is a very broad discipline touching many different areas. In general it describes the designing and building of machines, systems, materials and processes. The main branches of engineering can be divided into: aerospace, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. An engineer can be concerned with different types of design, e.g. product design and interior design for which he might use CAD, meaning the use of technology on a computer to design objects in 2D or 3D. The discipline going beyond engineering is maintenance engineering which focuses on the optimisation of machines, systems, materials and processes in order to improve their maintainability and reliability. This might also be an area of interest for an appraiser since he/ she might set a certain value upon a property according to its maintainability. If this is something you would like to know more about, you should browse through the engineering & industry training courses on Springest.
