You will also study the main wood occupations units: Woodworking Joints; Carpentry and Joinery; and Hand Tools and Portable Power Tools. All units are covered in theory and practical sessions. You will participate in group and individual tutorials. All units to be assessed for knowledge by questions and answers on our Virtual Learning Environment system. Synoptic practical assessments will take place to check that you have acquired the strict criteria in practical activities. Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, exploring enterprise skills and employability skills are included in the programme content.
The Programme Content
The course consists of six units including Health and Safety, Knowledge of Information Level One and Building Methods and Technology. Entry Requirements
Initial assessment result at Level 1 or GCSE grade C in Maths and English or Level 1 course in Wood Occupations.

There will be costs of £30 for materials.

Progression
The course can lead to employment in the construction industry or possible progression to a full time Level 2 Diploma or NVQ Diploma Level 2 in either joinery or carpentry. You must be employed to enrol on the NVQ Diploma Level 2.
