Course Description

If you want to develop your knowledge of Mediation so that you can embark on a rewarding career or you are already working in a related field and want to improve your career prospects, then this is the course for you.

A skilled and practiced mediator can help their clients achieve the following:-

• Helping others to help themselves
• Assisting them with their communication and relationships
• Working with people to develop their powers of negotiating
• Achieving resolutions where everyone wins

From this course, you will learn to recognise types of body language, gestures and other non verbal forms of communication. These skills will be invaluable in your everyday relationships, which includes personal relationships, those at work, interviews, public speaking and even negotiating with teenagers!

You will see how the art of 'mirroring' will help others relax and feel at ease in your company and this, in itself, can be an excellent aid to communication. You will learn how important the positive spoken language is and how to change 'negative' situations into more positive ones. Mediators do not 'tell' others what they should do, they do not give advice, they help their clients explore all the possibilities of their situation so that they are able to achieve a resolution that may be right for them.

Many people come to mediation having been in some sort of conflict for some time. Over time, the issues can become complicated and often exaggerated, so that the individuals concerned can see no way out. Mediation can help them focus on the important issues at hand and unravel the complexities that have been built up. Mediators begin by building rapport and helping the clients to feel that they are in a safe and secure environment; this will enable them to talk openly and freely.

The Diploma in Mediation programme has also now been developed into an audio format so students can continue to study while on the move. Whether you are on holiday or commuting to work, you will be able to take this course with you!

The material will cover exactly the same topics covered in the course book but is read out aloud. This enables you to add the material to your iPod, to convert onto a CD and listen in the car or to be placed on any MP3 player.

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Support

You will receive the entire package of course materials in a single dispatch together with dedicated Tutor Support for 12 months.  All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course.

You will be provided with the telephone number for your dedicated Student Support Team who will be available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. Assessment

You must successfully complete a series of activities and assessments. Once all assessments and activities have been completed satisfactorily, you will then be awarded your certificate.  The good news is, there is no final exam.
