All aspects of training will be carried out in college. These will be taught in the classroom and practical sessions in the college kitchen. You will then take the skills you have learnt at college out to the workplace and will be expected to bring in work based evidence and build a portfolio with the evidence you have collected in the workplace. An assessor will visit your work place to observe your working practices. All key skills will be delivered at college within your day release.

You will build the basic knowledge required to carry out many kitchen service tasks. It will give you an insight into the profession and valuable insight into future careers open to you.

There are no entry requirements for this course. You will be called in to complete an initial assessment and then an interview with a member of staff who will be delivering the course.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to Level 3 apprenticeship courses in catering.
