with two important areas of HR theory and practice: • Global HR
perspective • Investigating a business issue from an HR perspective
This is a leading-edge unit that enables you to benefit directly
from research informed teaching, and evaluate leading-edge research
and practice Managing HR and ER How will I be Taught? The two units
will be taught in weekly three hour (x2) sessions. The 6 hours a
week will be devoted to group lectures, seminars and workshop
activities. The teaching approach is to provide a theoretical
understanding of people, management and organisations, and to
develop this understanding by illustrating how theory and practice
come together in the workplace. To help achieve this, we will draw
on your experience of organisations, both in the workplace and from
your dealings with them. How will I be Assessed? There is a blended
approach to assessments of the four elements: a 2 hour exam; 2500
word assignment addressing the Management of Employment
Relationships; 7000 word Business Research Report and a group
presentation. What our students say? 'The PG Diploma HRM was a very
stimulating and challenging course for me, covering many aspects of
HRM. Assignments were spaced out evenly and I found this a real
benefit in managing my time. As a group the interactive experience
I gained from the tutors and my fellow students was invaluable'.
