BTEC Diploma in Creative Media Production Level 2
General information
This is primarily a practical media course, however, students are also expected to study some theoretical concepts such as genre and representation. Each student will produce a portfolio of work, demonstrating a range of skills in video, print and multi-media production.

The course consists of 8 units, 4 of which are compulsory and 4 of which are specialist.:
Compulsory units are:
- The creative media sector
- Research techniques
- Communication techniques
- Audiences for products
The specialist units are:
- Video production
- Print production
- Advertising production
- Animation techniques

In addition students may be required to participate in the key skills programme and / or other complimentary studies, subject to College approval.
Induction and Probation - For the first half term students will be set a variety of projects and participate in a range of skills-building exercises and tests. During this time a students place on the course will be subject to their attendance, punctuality, motivation, ability to meet deadlines and overall work ethic, in addition to the development of their practical skills. Each student’s performance will be regularly assessed and course places may be reviewed.
Teaching and assessment
There are no exams just ongoing assessment that will take place through submission of portfolio work for units.
Entry requirements
A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject OR 4 GCSEs at grades D or above including English Language.
Progression
Successful completion of this course at merit or distinction standard will allow students to progress onto a Level 3 BTEC qualification in a media related subject.
