You work closely with performing arts students too. You also study a functional skill and have the opportunity to retake GCSE maths and English if required.
Individual learning targets are set each term and you receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals throughout the course.
The functional skills course in English maths or ICT is assessed by an external exam.

The qualification awarded is the Edexcel BTEC Media Level 2 Diploma and functional skills qualifications in English maths or ICT.
You also improve the wider skills that are vital for your success - self-confidence, speaking in front of others, working with others, taking responsibility and managing your time. By the end of the course you will have benefited from a valuable insight into future careers open to you.

You will need either a foundation certificate in related subject, 4 or more GCSE grades D-G, preferably with grade D in English (although candidates with grade E will be considered), related work experience, other related level 1 or 2 qualifications.
If you have grades outside the entry requirements, you are still welcome to apply.
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

You could progress to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production at the OCVC or another related level 3 qualification.

You will have access to our new, state-of-the art media centre which opened in autumn 2013 and which includes a television and radio studio, recording and editing facilities for video and sound. Our supportive staff help you to succeed and progress to the next stage in your career development.
