Students are required to attend college for one day a week. This is on Tuesdays for Year 10 and 11 starting in September 2012. The times of attendance are 10.00am - 2.30pm.

Course Description

The aim is to meet the needs of learners who work or wish to work in the Countryside, Sustainability and the Environment industry and to allow the students to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment or career progression in the countryside sector. We use naturally occurring opportunities and every week students will be timetabled to work within the gardens, grounds and farm at Bicton.

  • Conservation of British Habitats
  • Estate Maintenance

Functional Skills
You will also gain nationally recognised functional skills qualifications (English, Maths and ICT).

Assessment Methods

The teaching of these subjects will be a combination of both theory and practical sessions.

Assessment strategies will consist of practical observations, written evidence, reports and presentations.

Progression

Successful learners may progress to a full time post 16 Level 3 programme, Apprentiship or employment.

All progression routes are reliant upon the student reaching certain levels in Literacy and Numeracy.
