Bicton College is a leading land-based college set within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Devon. The grounds comprise 200 hectares of open parkland and rolling countryside; a majestic Georgian manor house overlooks the beautiful lake and sits alongside the latest in modern facilities and equipment. It is the College's stated mission to strive for excellence in the delivery of land-based and environmental education to Devon’s rural businesses, individuals and communities.

Bicton offers a range of land-based courses that are available from entry level to higher education, with 89% of students going on to enter a career of their choice – and this number is rising. The recently published 2012 Ofsted report recognised Bicton's excellent progress, declaring that...

''..Bicton College’s links across Devon are changing and improving lives.’’

‘‘..Bicton provides a harmonious and purposeful environment for learning.’’

‘‘..The College provides a highly inclusive, happy and vibrant learning experience.’’

‘‘..Learners make good progress in lessons and develop valuable vocational and personal skills that prepare them well for their future careers.’’

The College is also developing a strong reputation in sustainable development, having built a new Environmental and Renewable Technologies Hub (EaRTH) which was opened by the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, in May this year. The College farm operates an extensive dairy system across its 160 hectares, a lower cost approach that is less vulnerable to the fluctuation of milk prices.  Furthermore, Bicton College is located a mere five minutes from the south coast with its selection of beaches, towering cliffs and seaside towns, and twenty minutes from the regional capital of Exeter, which “…with a touch of buzzy, big city atmosphere, a large student population and a thriving arts scene…is one of the liveliest cities in the Southwest. The city's long heritage means there are plenty of monuments and historical attractions to occupy at least a day's sightseeing, and the excellent selection of bars, cafes and restaurants make Exeter a vibrant place to be after dark.” (Lonely Planet Guide to Great Britain)
