This course is designed to enable you to:
Develop the skills needed by yourself and others to lead walks in the countryside safely
Gain a nationally recognised qualification
Is it for me?
If you are keen on being out in the countryside and want to work in the outdoors, this course is a great starting point. You must have some experience of walking and a reasonable degree of fitness.
What’s involved?
Some of the units included are:
· Planning a walk
· Leadership
· Camp craft
· Navigation
· Risk and Safety
Entry Requirements:
None, however a keen interest in the outdoors and the willingness to have a go even if the weather is poor!

This goes well with the BTEC Outdoor courses but is an enrichment programme that would go well with most level 3 programmes. It fits in very well with the Duke of Edinburgh programmes.
Progression:
This is the entry level to a career in the outdoors and you could progress onto the Mountain Leader Training Awards.
