The 11 credit programme will provide you with a nationally
recognised award. The aims and objectives of this course are to
explain the facts about dementia and show you how the combination
of the key ingredients of person-centred care can improve the daily
life of people with dementia.
Dementia is an umbrella term that describes the different
conditions that attack and destroy the brain cells. To provide
excellent quality care, you will learn how to recognise people with
dementia as whole individuals.
This programme supports working practice with theoretical knowledge
and can contribute towards underpinning knowledge required for the
Diploma in Health and Social Care.
The programme consists of 4 units:
- DEM 301 - Understand the process and experience of Dementia
- DEM 305 - Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person centred approach
- DEM 308 - Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia
- DEM 310 - Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion
How long is the course?
This is a 12 week distance learning course.How will I be assessed?
You will be provided with unitised workbooks and resources. In order to complete the course you will be required to complete all activities/assignments for each module contained within the workbooks.What does the course lead to?
The programme supports progression to other courses including Diplomas in Health and Social Care.Entry requirements
