This module is next running by distance learning commencing 11 September 2012.

You will need to attend one of the induction days prior to commencing your first module; these are running in Lancaster on 19 or 20 September 2012 (you only need to attend one date) and in Carlisle on 11 September 2012. If you have studied at the University of Cumbria in the past two years the requirement to attend the induction day may be waived.

  • Identify and critically discuss key issues for the development of Pre Hospital Care Practice
  • Demonstrate mastery in the use of analytical skills necessary to respond to new policy directives
  • Critically evaluate the likely impact of proposed changes in practice
  • Critically review the evidence base underpinning practice innovation

Course summary Principles of critical thinking skills, evidence based practice, audit and evaluation of practice change. These will be applied to selected current major practice issues such as the proposal to discontinue paramedic intubation practice. Teaching staff will determine the topics which may change over the duration of the module due to the rapidly changing nature of pre hospital care practice.
