The Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership
are designed for directors and senior managers who have the

strategy into effective performance. These qualifications require
directors and senior managers to build on their skills in strategic
management and leadership and to focus on the requirements of
inter-organisational strategy.
These qualifications are derived from the National Occupational
Standards for Management and Leadership and are accredited on the
Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and
Northern Ireland.
The Level 7 offers a highly flexible approach to learning. They
allow a selection of a broad range of units that can be flexibly
accessed within the three year registration period.
The qualifications follow the new Award, Certificate, Diploma
format where:
Award - is a concise qualification aimed at developing basis skills
and knowledge at this level.
To achieve a CMI Level 7 Award in Strategic Management and
Leadership, you need to successfully complete at least one unit to
a minimum of 6 credits.
Certificate - builds and broadens on the areas covered in the
Award.
To achieve a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and
Leadership, you need to successfully complete any combination of
units to a minimum of 13 credits.
Diploma - develops a comprehensive range of skills and knowledge
required at this level.
To achieve a CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and
Leadership, you need to complete all units to a total of at least
66 credits.
What Subjects will I study?
Units to study at Level 7 include:
Personal development as a Strategic Manager (Unit code 7001 -
credit value 6)
You will learn how to identify and achieve strategic ambitions by
constructing, reviewing and evaluating a development plan to become
a strategic leader and take into account Health and Safety
responsibilities and on an individual and corporate level.
Strategic performance management (Unit code 7002 - credit value
7)
You will learn how to set strategic individual and team objectives
to measure performance and use influencing skills to gain
commitment from individuals to a course of action.
Financial management (Unit code 7003 - credit value 7)
You will learn about analysis of financial data, accounting
conventions and the principles of management accounting in order to
make informed decisions on expenditure to ensure
sustainability.
Strategic information management (Unit code 7004 - credit value
9)
You will learn about decision making methods, tools and techniques
in order to use information available to make informed strategic
decisions and to evaluate and develop capturing systems within the
organisation.
Conducting a strategic management project (Unit code 7005 - credit
value 10)
You will learn about research methodology and apply it to a
strategic investigative project, draw conclusions, make
recommendations and evaluate the impact of the project.
Organisational direction (Unit code 7006 - credit value 9)
You will learn how to use a range of methods and techniques to
analyse, audit and review the aims and objectives within the
organisational strategic plan and determine alternative options to
support a revised strategic position.
Strategic marketing (Unit code 7008 - credit value 6)
You will learn about the construction of marketing plans and how to
use them to promote and support strategic objectives and measure
the effectiveness of the plan against them.
Strategic project management (Unit code 7009 - credit value 6)
You will learn methods and techniques to design a project plan and
the various steps involved in its construction, the impact it can
have on organisationl objectives and the role the stakeholder
support can have on its implementation and operations.
Organisational change (Unit code 7010 - credit value 7)
You will learn methods, tools and techniques to support you in
identifying, developing and implementing a change strategy, to
minimise adverse effects and how to review and analyse its
impact.
