The ILM Team Leading Apprenticeship offers the most comprehensive development route for new and aspiring team leaders or managers. Over the course of the programme you learn the theory of team leading and gain the practical skills and experience necessary to progress to management.
As part of the Team Leading Apprenticeship you will study a framework consisting of the following elements:
- NVQ Level 2 Team Leading
- Technical Certificate
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities

NVQ Mandatory Units:
- Managing personal development
- Develop working relationships with colleagues
- Communicate information and knowledge
NVQs are assessed using evidence from the workplace. This could
include observation, professional discussion, questioning, witness
testimony, physical products of work (such as plans reports
correspondence etc).
Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations
and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals
throughout the course. Functional skills are assessed by an
external exam.
The qualifications awarded are the ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading and the ILM Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Team Leading. You also gain valuable skills and experience that offer you the potential to move forward with your career into management roles.
There are no formal entry requirements for this
apprenticeship.
However, after applying, you will undertake an initial assessment
to determine the appropriate NVQ level and optional units, and to
find out if the programme is the right one for you.
