Catering Entry Level 3 Foundation Pathway

This course is for those who want to explore a career in catering through a full-time college course and would benefit from having a high level of support with English, maths and personal development.

You will develop food preparation and cooking skills and gain knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene.

- Undertaking an enterprise project

The pathway is delivered through a range of interactive and fun activities to enable you to develop essential skills and qualities to take onto the next level of Catering or employment. The course is practically based with plenty of chance to develop your cookery skills.
o Teaching: lectures, presentations, Moodle, demonstrations, micro teaching, workshops, drop-ins, tutorials
o Assessment methods – coursework, projects, presentations, portfolios
o Learning – individual work, research, pair work, group work

You do not need qualifications to join these pathways. However you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject. We will also expect a satisfactory school report. As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and Maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.

When you have achieved your Entry Level 3 qualification you could progress onto Level 1 courses in a related subject such as Café and Restaurant. This course will also give you essential employability skills to look for employment in the catering industry.
