Course Description
If you want to develop your knowledge of Human Resources so that you can embark on a rewarding career or you are already working in a related field and want to improve your career prospects, then this is the course for you.
A successful business is one that effectively and efficiently manages its resources, thus providing a service or product that exceeds the expectations of its customers. Its resources are materials, equipment, facilities and human, and the most important of these by far are its human resources, or employees.
From the boardroom to the shop floor, a successful business relies on the knowledge, skill, expertise and ingenuity of all of its employees. Functional heads or managers are responsible for the effective day to day management and use of the human resources, but it is the Human Resources (HR) Department that is required to gain, support, develop and dispense with these resources in accordance with any business needs, in an effective and considerate manner, which satisfies the prevailing statutory requirements present.
The actual structure and day to day duties performed by the HR department will depend on the size and structure of the individual organisation. In large organisations there is usually a dedicated department of people performing the HR duties, whilst in other small organisations the duties may be performed by an individual working part time, who is combining these duties with a number of other duties. In addition, the HR responsibilities themselves will vary between organisations. For instance in some, may include the payroll function, whilst in others this function is the responsibility of the dedicated Accounts department.
The Distance Learning Human Resources course will be looking at the range of work most usually performed by the Human Resources department, and in particular the knowledge and skills that you will need as Human Resource Personnel, working under whatever circumstances, to fulfil this demanding yet very rewarding role.
The Human Resources course consists of six modules, each of which relate to a particular aspect that is important and relevant to the work of the HR Personnel. The modules you will study are as follows:
- Recruitment, Selection and Induction of Staff
- Producing and Maintaining Personnel Records
- Staff Management and Relations
- Staff Support and Development
- Disciplinaries, Grievances and Disputes
- Staff Terminations.
