Overview
About This Course:This course will allow you to study towards an up-to-date qualification in many of the skills that are in demand for many different types of career in Computing or Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Success in the HNC also allows entry on to the 2nd year of the HND Networking Technology program.
What You Need:- One appropriate Higher and three Intermediate 2 courses (including at least one from Computing or Information Systems) OR
- One Higher and three Standard Grades at Credit Level, OR
- A national qualification at SCQF Level 5 or 6 in a related subject (such as Digital Media Computing, Computing: Technical Support or Software Development) OR

What You Study:Units of study will include: Subjects include Developing Software: Introduction, Computer System Fundamentals, Troubleshooting Problems, Network Technology, Routing Technology, Configuring a Desktop Operating system and Troubleshooting a Desktop Operating System. This course also has a final exam.
Optional additional vendor courses, Cisco Network Technology and Routing Technology, MCTS/MCITP candidates are expected to fund vendor certification are embedded in the delivery of this award, candidates are required to fund vendor certification. This vendor qualification is certificated in addition to your HNC award and gives significant additional employability.
After The Course:• Continuing study – second year of HND Software Development. Entry into the first year of related BSc Computing Degree programmes at most universities
How Long:One year, starting in August.
