Suitable For

This course provides a practical based approach to computing for anybody wishing either to work in the industry directly or progress to Higher Education study of the subject. The Diploma is equivalent to three A-Levels.

Course Content

This course aims to provide a practical based approach to computing for anybody wishing to work in the industry, or progress to higher education study of the subject. The Diploma is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. Subjects studied include:

• Communication & employability skills
• Communications technologies
• Computer systems
• HCI
• Information systems
• IT systems troubleshooting
• Organisational systems security
• Principles of software design & development
• Website production & management

Progression

These qualifications can lead directly on to a higher education course such as a degree or HND/C. Alternatively employment opportunities after completion include trainee e - commerce developers, trainee positions in management information systems or systems support.

Additional Information

This course will be delivered in the first year as a one year Subsidiary Diploma and if relevant grades are met learners will continue onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in their second year.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally possess 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above - including Maths and English for the Extended Diploma). You will also need to provide satisfactory references.
