IT Practitioners BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 Course Details The BTEC Extended Diploma for IT Practitioners provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for learners wishing to enter a career as an IT practitioner or technician in the area of Information Systems, Technical Support, Networking and Software Development. The course consists of 18 units studied over two years as follows: Year 1 (9 units)– students will study 9 units as follows: Communication and Employment Skills for IT. Computer Systems. Information Systems. Computer Networks. Spreadsheet Modelling. Maintaining Computer Systems. Computer Architecture. Mathematics for IT Practitioners. Event Driven Programming. Year 2 (9 units)– students will study a further 9 units which will be: Systems Analysis and Design. Client Side Customisation of Web Pages. Database Design. Website Production. Developing Computer Games. Human Computer Interaction. Controlling Systems Using IT. Web Server Scripting. Software Design and Development. A Course For Learners who wish to enter a career as an IT practitioner or technician in industry or requiring progression to higher education vocational qualifications. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English, or BTEC IT Practitioners Level 2 with an average grade of‘merit’ or equivalent plus English at Level 2.
