Health and Safety, Creating a variety of looks using cutting techniques, Promoting products or services, Developing and enhancing your creative hairdressing skills, Styling and dressing hair to achieve a variety of creative looks, Styling and dressing long hair, Providing colour correction services, Colouring hair using a variety of techniques, Hair extension services (optional) and Contributing to the planning and implementation of promotional activities.
Assessment:You will be continually assessed throughout the course by means
of practical assessments and end of unit online tests which can be
re-taken if necessary. Practical assessments must be carried out on
paying clients although you will be encouraged to bring in your own
clients to help with this. A reduction is made to the usual prices
in this case.
There is a substantial amount of theory work involved on the
hairdressing course; this includes research work for a show. You
will be expected to keep up with written work and submit it on
time.
You could choose to learn how to train and assess others - the A1 assessing course is available at the college. You must have a satisfactory amount of industrial experience at a senior level before A1 can be considered.
Career Progression:The NVQ Level 3 qualification is itself a prestigious qualification at a higher level. It will also give the less experienced hairdresser the opportunity to focus on future management roles within the industry. For the more experienced hairdresser or manager, opportunities will exist to progress to Level 4 (when available) and teaching.
Full Description:You must attend practical lessons correctly dressed in the
college professional salon uniform, with appropriate make-up, shoes
and accessories.
You will be required to attend all timetabled classes. Average
attendance throughout the year should be above 90%.
You will need to purchase a hairdressing kit (approx cost £180) and a salon tunic (approx cost £35) in order to commence your studies. A deposit will be taken during enrolment.
