Get the skills and experience you need to become a junior stylist and work on the shop floor of a salon with this intensive NVQ 2 Hairdressing fast-track qualification.

Some of the modules you will cover include health and safety, client care, creating a positive impression, shampooing and conditioning, cutting, setting, blow drying, colouring, and reception and teamwork.

You are continually assessed during the year. All assessments are through practical observation, oral questioning, written tests and assignments.

The course is delivered through the 4-1-1 method, which involves four weeks of intensive teaching and two weeks of assessment and enterprise. This is repeated in six weeks blocks. You will learn through class and practical salon activities plus demonstrations from expert hair tutors. You will be required to do a work placement and a large amount of self-directed study to ensure successful completion.

You will gain the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing and a functional skill in English, Maths or ICT. You will also gain wider personal development skills vital for success in further study or employment. These skills include self confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management.

Applicants for a Level 2 programme will normally have at least 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above and/or a completed Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing. If you are interested in a Level 2 programme and have alternative qualifications you would like us to consider please contact us with your details. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
