Course Code: E0004 Minimum Age: 16 Course Length: Approximately 24 months Entry Requirements:

Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for years. Applicants need to be; legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSE’s more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to take a literacy and numeracy test. It is recommended that entrants have previously completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship or have had relevant work experience. Applicants will also be subject to a Pre-Enrolment Interview. To start the Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Apprenticeship. This course is aimed at those in a supervisory role although this is not essential.

Core Skills:

This course develops the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective employee in the construction industry. It is recommended for employees who work within constructive role and who want to; further their career and gain a qualification through a flexible combination of training and assessment in the workplace.

In this course learning is based around how a variety of construction services function and the wide variety of opportunities and career pathways in this sector.

Assessment:

Training and assessments are delivered at both the college and the workplace with learners being required to spend 1 day a week on campus. Assessment is via a variety of methods, including case studies, assignments, practical assessments and projects.

Career Progression:

Career or academic progression may include continuation, development or promotion at work or within this sector and progression into higher education.

Full Description:

This Advanced Apprenticeship is ideal for developing skills and knowledge whilst working within the fast-paced world of construction. This qualification offers the unique opportunity to earn and learn in this sector.

Real work experience, which is personalised to each learner’s aspirations and interests, is integrated into the programme.

The Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction (Wood Occupations - Bench Joinery) Level 3 is built up of a framework consisting of: Construction Skills Awards Level 3 NVQ in Wood Occupations, Construction Awards Alliance NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) – Bench Joinery, Key Skills in Communication Level 2 and Application of Number Level 2. There is a choice of units to meet the role and responsibilities and your assessor will help determine the appropriate combination.

Training and assessments are delivered in the workplace, except some of the content, which may be undertaken in college.

Measurable benefits include: better team performance; productivity targets met or exceeded; quicker response time and reduced error rates.

Costs:

Training on the Apprenticeships programme is currently funded for apprentices aged 16 - 18 years at the time of enrolment. An employer contribution is required for those aged either 19+ or who have a level 4 or higher qualification.
