Train and Achieve NVQ Fabrication and Welding Standard

NVQ for engineering. This award is suitable for those who wish to undertake Welding or Fabrication.

Course content

Candidates complete common mandatory units, followed by a choice of pathways Candidates then complete further mandatory units within their chosen pathway, followed by a number of optional units An example of a typical course would be:

• Complying with Statutory Regulations and Organisational Safety Requirements
• Using and interpreting Engineering Data and Documentation
• Working efficiently and effectively in Engineering
• Producing Fillet Welded joints using a Manual Welding Process

Entry Requirements

By interview. No formal entry requirements. Enthusiasm and a determination to succeed will be required. No training is given for this qualification in this format.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Competence is assessed by observation of work produced against the requirements of occupational standards. Knowledge and understanding is assessed by written/oral questions. A Work-based portfolio of evidence is submitted.

NVQ Level 3 The award structure allows for candidates to gain qualification of their skills in areas which are appropriate to the requirements of the workplace.
