Summary:
NVQs are nationally recognised awards and the course is designed for people employed as a teaching assistant with a proven history of working in a school. Level 3 candidates are generally working at supervisory level though may not have the relevant qualifications.

Working in a school setting assisting teachers at Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1-4 plus the ability to study at this level.
Assessment:You will be allocated a number of hours of assessment time by City College and will need to work within this framework in order to maximise support. NVQ assessors will observe your achievements and skills in your workplace and you will collect a portfolio of evidence for assessment, expert witnesses within the school are also used. There are no examinations.
Career Progression:With further study you can progress to; Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
