CYQ award in Fitness and Physical Activity

This course provides students with the opportunity to be taught and assessed in a real working environment. There will be theory sessions linked to practical sessions which will enable you to understand the physiological effects of exercise on the body. Students can take advantage of the on-site fitness suite at the James Watt Campus to enhance learning of the working environment

Course content

Students will study the following areas as part of the course:

• Participate in physical Activity
• Exploring the fitness Industry
• Understanding the Health and Fitness Industry
• Assist in the Delivery of Exercise
• Exercise and fitness knowledge
• Nutrition

Entry Requirements

You should have an enthusiasm for working in the leisure industry, and regularly attend the gym. You will be required to attend an interview and complete an initial assessment to demonstrate your literacy skills

Delivery & Assessment methods

You will be assessed through a mixture of practical and theory assessments and be able to assist with a variety of safe planned sessions to groups and individuals of different fitness levels and requirements. These assessments will be on-going throughout the year to enable you to meet full criteria and achieve your full qualification.
