Description

This course has been developed for students interested in working with horses. It is an introductory level course that is designed to help you to develop a range of horse care skills. The work will mainly be practical, with some theory sessions to provide the underpinning knowledge for the practical sessions. As well as supporting students wishing to work in this chosen area, it also allows progression on to other qualifications, such as an Apprenticeship training programme or other Level 2 equine courses.

This is a full time course which is delivered 3 days a week at the College for 34 weeks

Days - Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thurdays.

  • Paddock maintenance
  • Tack and equipment
  • Functional skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required but you must have a genuine interest and enthusiasm in working with horses together with some experience of working with horses and lots of stamina! Please note that our centre has a riding weight limit of 13 stone 5lbs (85kg) for all riders.
