Course content

The course is split into two integral parts which integrates theory with practice; students are required to complete both theory in college and practical work placements in various placement settings.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D or above including English Language or a suitable CACHE Foundation Award in Caring for Children with a Merit grade are needed. A positive school or college reference with good levels of attendance and punctuality will also be required. Previous relevant work experience is preferred and a clear Criminal Record Bureau is essential.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Students are assessed through assignments, portfolios, placement experience and external examinations.

Progression

On completion of the course, students could progress onto the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce or revised Level 3 Diploma (currently under review and design) or move into employment.
