Course Details:

Child Care Learning and Development NVQs applies to staff working in Child Care settings, supporting the needs of children they are caring for. These include Day Nurseries, Nursery classes, Child Minders and Children Centres.

These qualifications are competence based, linking a candidates ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. The NVQ programme is delivered in the workplace, and assessment is based on a candidate portfolio of evidence demonstrating competence against specific criteria. Candidates receive individual guidance and support throughout their programme as they build their portfolio of evidence.

To achieve a full level 2 NVQ in Child Care Learning and Development, candidates must complete 6 Core units and 1 optional unit. The qualifications are very flexible, enabling the organisation and the candidate to choose optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.

Career Progression:

These qualifications have been designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to enable progression to and from qualifications along the vertical and horizontal plans of the National Qualification Framework. For example, a candidate achieving a level 2 in Children's Care Learning and Development may progress to level 3 in Children's Care Learning and Development if their job role allows, or may widen their skills into other areas and undertake other work-based qualifications eg NVQ in Customer Service.
