If you have ambitions to set up and run your own business, this course will help you realise your dream. During the course you will learn the business knowledge and personal skills necessary to research a business idea, plan its set up and launch the business.

At the end of the course, not only will you have achieved a nationally recognised business qualification but will also be running a small rural enterprise of your own making. If you have the drive and motivation to work for yourself and the creativity to set your business ideas apart from the competition, this course is for you.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that your Initial Assessments show you are working at Level 2. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English and Maths.

What You Will Study

You will study all the fundamentals of creating a business idea and running a small rural enterprise, together with key business knowledge on subjects, including:

  • Business planning
  • Market research and product promotion
  • Managing finance
  • Recruiting staff
  • Business law
  • Communication and selling skills
  • The business and economic environment

Functional Skills

Alongside running your enterprise you will also work towards nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications (English, Maths and ICT) together with further qualifications in Team Leading and Management – all vital skills for the business leaders of the future.

What Next?

You will leave the course having set up a viable rural enterprise which you can further develop on a full or part-time basis. You will have the opportunity to progress to University level courses in a range of business subjects.

Alternatively you can enter a range of businesses with a view to progressing to supervisory and ultimately managerial roles, having gained an excellent grounding in business planning and management.
