The Edexcel Level 3 Extended Diploma in
Business is assessed entirely through coursework using a range of
different teaching and learning methods. At the heart of the course
are your core business, enterprise and finance subjects. These will
teach you the main things you need to know about the sectors.
You'll learn about the issues that are affecting business today,
how it works and what skills you need to have.
These are just some examples of the kind of learning you'll be
doing:
Business enterprise:
You'll learn about the structure of business organisations and the
processes involved in planning, setting up, running and closing a
business venture, the role of the entrepreneur and the importance
of innovation and creativity in business. You could, for example,
develop an idea for a new product or service, draw up a business
start-up and implementation plan, present it to investors, sell
your product or service and then close the business.
Marketing:
You will explore how different types of organisations use marketing
principles to meet the needs of customers and achieve their
organisational objectives. You will also study the laws which
govern the activities of marketers and protect consumers. You will
also look at the targeting and segmentation of customers, which are
key marketing techniques.
Throughout the two year course you will study a minimum of 18 units
covering a broad range of business subjects including creative
product promotion, business communications, internet marketing,
international business and law.

Extended diploma courses have 3 achievement points: you will work towards the subsidiary diploma qualification in the first year of the course and will have the opportunity to work towards either the diploma or the extended diploma in the second year.
