The programme is designed to help students become competent tree surgeons whilst gaining a Level 3 qualification. At the end of the programme you should possess a thorough knowledge of the care and maintenance of trees, plantations and forestry.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working at Level 2. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A–C, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent.

  • Tree pest and diseases
  • Work experience (300 hours) – compulsory module

Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.

What Next?

Students could seek employment in tree surgery, estate work or with local councils. Other opportunities may arise in farm advisory services, environmental education and in countryside contracting businesses. Successful students could also progress to a Foundation/Honours Degree in a related subject.
