Overview
With increasing pressure to produce better results with less resources, leadership and management capabilities are more important than ever. This programme develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours which are needed by highly effective people managers.
Who will this programme benefit?
First line and junior managers who are seeking an industry recognised qualification or for experienced supervisors and team leaders wishing to improve their skills for their next management role.
Programme structure
The workshops are highly participative, using facilitated
discussion, presentations, case studies and group work. The
workshops promote reflective review, and encourage delegates to
find opportunities to apply the learning in the workplace.
Delegates will complete two work-based learning assignments, which
are assessed and verified by the ILM in order to achieve their
accreditation.
By the end of the programme you will be able to:
- understand the advantages, disadvantages and differences between leadership and management
- use a range of leadership styles and behaviours - define a clear and compelling purpose that people will want to offer their best to achieve
- build a strong, effective and driven team by harnessing key motivation techniques and applying these in the workplace
- develop operational effectiveness by applying a 5 step approach to ensure problems are solved - learn techniques to identify the problem, analyse and gather data, identify the solution, implement the most effective solution, evaluate and review.
This programme will:
- help you recognise problems, their nature, scope and impact to identify appropriate solutions
- show you how to demonstrate, plan, implement and communicate decisions to your team, department and the wider organisation
- explore the differences and similarities between leadership and management styles and behaviours
- examine the role of trust in effective team leadership
- identify why organisations need a vision, mission and strategy
- help you to understand how to develop team objectives to support an overall strategy
- establish techniques for communicating vision, goals and objectives - time and place, appropriate methods, clear and accurate listening skills and receiving and responding to feedback
- provide personal action planning to embed and own the learning back in the workplace.
