Description

You will be assigned an assessor who will work with you on an individual basis to support you in completing the units for this programme that are in addition to those you have already completed for your SSTL L3 Diploma.
You will be observed in practice within an early years setting with children 5 years or under either in nursery, Sure Start children centres, playgroups or in foundation units in a school.

You need to have a placement of 12 hours a week or be working for at least 12 hours a week throughout the programme. You will also complete written evidence around the unit criteria.

How long is the course?

You have 12 months from enrolment to complete the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed both in practice when working with children in a setting and also through an assessment of written evidence that is sent and received through One File (online e-portfolio programme).

You will be given written evidence to complete for example assignments, reflective accounts and work products e.g. child observations.

What will I study?

You need to complete unit credits to top-up the amount of credits in the units from the SSTL L3 Diploma to achieve the CYPW L3 Diploma. You will study the following units:

Promote communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings.

Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings.

Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings.

Promote child and young person development.

Develop positive relationships with children, young people and others involved in their care.

Working together for the benefit of children and young people.

Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people.

There are 5 early years pathway units and also approximately 4 optional units to choose from to complete the required amount.

What can I go on to study?

Foundation Degree in Children and Young People's Services (Early Years Provision and practice or Role of the Teaching Assistant).

Entry requirements

You must have already successfully completed and gained your qualification in Specialist Children and Young People's Workforce Level 3 Diploma.

The top-up qualification costs £680.
