Summary:
This Work-Based Learners course is for apprentices, trainees and adults who are already working in the construction industry. This is a flexible programme in that you will attend college for guidance and support through a tutorial system.
In order to prove your ability across a wide range of bricklaying work you will be required to build up a portfolio of evidence, largely in your own time, which will include assessments in the workplace.
Entry Requirements:You should already have completed the NVQ level 2 in Brickwork and be currently employed within the bricklaying industry. It will be necessary for you to be assessed on site in a real work situation and therefore you should have access to a range of bricklaying tasks.
Assessment:The NVQ level 3 is a flexible programme in which you build up a portfolio of evidence to prove your ability. You will be guided throughout the assessment process by your course assessor who will discuss the requirements of the NVQ level 3 qualification with you and draw up an individual action plan for you to follow.
Academic Progression:Having successfully achieved the NVQ awards at Level 2||||Level 3 you may continue your studies at a professional level. A course designed to act as a bridge between craft and professional studies is available and gives you the opportunity to then progress to the Edexcel National Certificate courses in either Construction or Civil Engineering. Alternatively, you may wish to study for the Certificate and Diploma in Site Management.
Full Description:You will be required to provide evidence from your work place
across a broad range of brickwork tasks. In order to prove that
this has been done you will build a portfolio. This logs the work
you have completed and is signed by an approved person. An assessor
from the college then assesses this work. It may be necessary to
visit your workplace to confirm your evidence, which your assessor
will arrange between you and your employer as
appropriate.
