Summary:

This is an ideal programme for those that have achieved NVQ Level 2 (and who are currently employed in the plumbing and heating industry) who wish to gain a L3 NVQ to pursue a career in mechanical engineering services (plumbing). This will involve the study of the Technical Certificate within the college and the gathering of work based evidence for the NVQ L3 qualification.

The day release course runs for 36 weeks in Year 1, between September & July, one day per week. You may also be required to undertake Functional Skills in Application of Number and Communication at Level 2 if you are studying on a Modern Apprenticeship Framework.

Please note this course does not include the installation of boilers, gas or electrical systems.

College facilities include the library, information technology services, Student Union and sports facilities, study skills and learning support and Health & Safety.

You will be assessed throughout the course on the applciation of job knowledge via online exams and a final test and practical assessments of your workshop skills.

Academic Progression:

You may progress to a Gas Engineer's Qualification or Renewable Energies Course.

You will progress from a trades person working under limited supervision to a person supervising others.
