If this module is to be funded by your employing Trust, the next step is to contact the CPD lead (training manager) at your Trust. They will then ask you to complete the CPD-Apply application. Once this has been authorised by your trust, the University will contact you with further information.

Credit and UCAS requirements Credit: 20 credits Selection criteriaThis module is open to all health care professionals (e.g. RGN, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technicians and Pharmacists) who would benefit from studying the module.

Intended Learning OutcomesOn completion of the module the you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of the fundamental professional and legal issues which underpin the expansion of professional roles in the health care setting.
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of the appropriate investigations and local policies which will assist the diagnostic process; such as the Emergency Triage System;
- Discuss the assessment of common minor injury / illnesses and their potential differential diagnoses;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the management of common minor injury / illnesses;
- Discuss the rights of the individual as a patient, the family/carers involvement and the health services in the care of the individual

Course summaryThe module will revise with the you the law regarding their expanding role incorporating the relevant code of conduct. Evidenced practice, current sources will be included as well as the Manchester Triage System and Local policies. There will be specific reference to Common Infectious Diseases, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Skin Complaints, Respiratory and ENT disorders, Mental health, Vulnerable patients, Minor injuries, head injuries and MSK.
