This course explores a range of theories and models relating to mentoring and the support of personal development in educational settings. We recognise that the policies and practices related to mentoring often depend on the context in which they occur, so we will analyse how approaches to mentoring may be affected by the organisation and by individual mentors. You will also explore personal and professional development, and be required to analyse your own development in education through keeping a learning journal and engaging in reflective thinking. The course also considers the skills needed for effective mentoring and for being an effective mentee.

On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a
certificate of credit for 20 credits at Level HE7. In addition, you
may use these credits towards one of the Masters in Education
degrees offered by the University of Bolton.
