If you are aged between 19 and 23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A Levels, tuition fees will be waived. If you meet the Eligible Benefit criteria AND are aged 19-23, tuition fees will be waived. Tuition fees will not be waived for students aged over 23 studying a Level 3 or higher course, however these students may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.

Course Content: The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Computing
provides a sound platform for careers in Software Development,
Networking and ICT support. This qualification will provide you
with the knowledge and experience needed to further your career in
IT. Throughout this two year course you will complete 18 units
covering areas such as Digital Graphics, Website Design and Games
Development. During the course you will have access to the latest
software and hardware as well as the college’s Virtual Learning
Environment.
The course consists of six core units these being:
• Communication and Employability Skills for IT
• Computer Systems
• Event Driven Programming
• Information Systems
• Software Design and Development
• Systems Analysis and Design
Entry Qualification: The minimum entry requirement is 5 GCSE passes
at grade A* - C (including mathematics and English) or a Merit in
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Information Technology and Level 2
mathematics and English. Special Features: A variety of teaching
and learning methods are used throughout this course. Students will
be given access to a wide range of hardware and software to support
their learning. Course Format: This is a vocational course where
students are assessed via individual and group work, presentations,
written assignments, video evidence, mini projects, research, case
studies, practical demonstrations and observations. Progression:
Most students progress into Higher Education or directly into
employment within a range of IT jobs including Web Development,
Network Support and Software Development.
