This course is suitable for school leavers and mature learners and will prepare you for a career in IT (software development), programming or provide a pathway to Higher Education. The course not only covers computer programming but also graphics, computer games development and web design/management.

You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course is made up of 18 units - each unit focusing on a specific area of computing.

Upon completion of the course you will have a qualification equivalent to three A Levels.
All our courses also include a relevant Functional Skill qualification.

This is a full-time course that runs over two years.

How will I be assessed?

Coursework is graded and there are no external examinations involved with this qualification. All units need to be completed to gain the qualifcation.

Entry requirements

You will need to have at least one of the following:
  • A BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in a relative subject at Merit or above
  • At least 4 GCSEs at grade A*- C including English and maths
  • Other qualifcations will be taken into consideration

You will also need to undergo an interview. References from employers or schools will support an application. Familiarity with computers and computer terminology would be a definite advantage.

How much does it cost?

You will be give access to all the software and hardware that you will need to complete this course, however we do suggest that you purchase a box file and several plastic document wallets to help you store and present your work. A data stick - although not essential is also recommended.
