Who is it for?
It is a legal requirement that individuals who have passed their Category D1 (minibus) test undergo an additional driving test if they wish to tow a trailer weighing more than 750kgs (Directgov, 2012).Obtaining a higher category entitlement, however, is not as simple as just booking and taking the test, as without proper training, it can be incredibly diffi cult to achieve a pass.Expertly designed with this in mind, System Training’s Category D1+E course enables individuals to meet the high standards of driving required by the DSA, in turn giving them the best possible opportunity to succeed in the associated practical test.

Entry requirementsIn addition to holding a full Category D1 licence, individuals must be aged 18 or over.
The course
Delivered by our highly qualifi ed, experienced instructors, the Category D1+E course equips learners with the essential skills, knowledge and understanding required to safely, competently and confi dently drive a minibus and trailer. As well as gaining fundamental expertise in the handling of vehicle controls, individuals will be able to demonstrate through their driving that they have a comprehensive awareness of all matters concerning personal and vehicle safety.The course specifi cally covers:An introduction to the vehicleVehicle familiarisationCoupling and uncouplingMoving off and stoppingRoad positioningJunctionsRoundaboutsCrossroadsReversingMotorway slip roadsUse of signalsPedestrian crossingsAwareness, anticipation and planningMeeting and overtakingIf successful, individuals will attain the Category D1+E entitlement on their licence, ultimately evidencing their ability to consistently drive a minibus and trailer in accordance with DSA standards
