Who is this course for?

Level 3 Apprenticeships would suit you if you are working in Trainee Accounting Technician or Assistant Accountant roles.

What will I do on the course?

In both levels of Apprenticeship, you will study a mix of theory (knowledge) and practical (competency) modules from the options shown below: Level 3:

  • Competency - Extending the trial balance using accounting adjustments, Accounting for fixed assets, Prepare final accounts for sole traders, Cash management, Providing cost and revenue information, Preparing and completing VAT returns, and Computerised accounting.
Alongside this work, you will also complete modules on Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Functional Skills English and Mathematics.

What qualifications do I need?

Level 3 - ideally, you will have completed a Level 2 qualification and have some vocational experience, along with good communication skills. You will also require GCSE Maths grades A*- C (or equivalent).

When does the course start?

September 2013, however flexible delivery start dates are also available.

Where is it held?

As with all Apprenticeship programmes, you will be employed in an accounting environment. In addition, you will also attend College on a day/evening release basis – these sessions will usually take place at Lichfield or Tamworth campus. Some learning and activities may be completed through our dedicated online portals.

How long does the course last?

Level 3 – usual duration 12 months

What does it cost?

The course is fully funded for those individuals who meet the Apprenticeship funding requirements. For those who do not meet these requirements, individual prices can be provided on request.

What could I do after completing the course?

Further Education:
  • Level 4 Apprenticeship.
Employment:
  • Accounts Manager
  • Senior Payroll Officer
  • Accountant.
