You spend one day a week in college participating in classroom and
practical-based sessions. The other four days are spent working in
the workplace putting what you have learned into practice. College
training takes place both in the classroom and the workshops. You
then take the skills you have learnt at college out to the
workplace and will be expected to bring in work-based evidence and
build a portfolio with the evidence you have collected in the
workplace.
An assessor will visit your work place to observe your working
practices. Functional skills will be delivered at college within
your day release.
You build the advanced knowledge required to carry out many site carpentry tasks, and learn more skilled techniques to help you to progress within the industry.
You need to have achieved the Intermediate (Level 2)
Apprenticeship in Carpentry to be considered for the advanced
apprenticeship.
On application you will be invited in to the college to sit an
initial assessment to make sure that you are at the correct level
of learning for the course.
With the advanced apprenticeship you have a great foundation from which to further your skills and experience within the carpentry and joinery sector.
