This course will prepare you to work in the construction industry and is designed to allow you to experience different areas of this industry, especially if you are unsure of which pathway to take. You will benefit from working in a practical construction environment in our extensive new facilities which will introduce you to the trades of Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating.

What will I be doing on the course?
To achieve this Construction Qualification a candidate has to be assessed as competent. Units:
- Handling and storing materials and components
- Removing and replacing fittings and fixtures
- Cutting, laying and fixing components
- Mixing materials
- Applying finishing materials
- Health & Safety
How will I be assessed?
- Course work assessed internally
- Practical work assessed to achieve City and Guild 6217 Multiskills
What will I need?
Boots (safety kite marked) for practical sessions – all other
PPE provided. Overalls are optional.
What can I do next?
When you have successfully completed this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification, developed your basic level skills and have opportunities to start a Modern Apprenticeship, or full time Diploma in your chosen trade at level 1, progressing to level 2.
Additional Activities
Site visits/sports/trips alongside your main programme. Basic
skills (functional skills) in maths and English.
