You spend one day a week in college participating in classroom and
practical-based sessions. The other four days are spent working in
the workplace putting what you have learned into practice.
All aspects of training will be carried out in college. These will
be taught both in the classroom and the workshops.
You will then take the skills you have learnt at college out to the
workplace and will be expected to bring in work-based evidence and
build a portfolio with the evidence you have collected in the
workplace. An assessor will visit your work place to observe your
working practices. All key skills will be delivered at college
within your day release.
You will build the basic knowledge required to carry out many brickwork tasks. It will give you an insight into the profession and valuable insight into future careers open to you.
There are no entry requirements for this course but on application you will be called in to sit an initial assessment to ensure that you are at the correct level of learning and you will then be invited in to college for an interview with a member of the brickwork team.
On successful completion of the course you can progress to the Brickwork Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. The duration of this course is one year and will be a day release course.
