Construction (Building Studies) BTEC Diploma Level 3 Awarding Body: Edexcel Course Details In the first year of the course the following core units will be covered: Health, safety and welfare. Sustainable construction. Construction technology and design. Construction science and materials. Mathematics in construction. Plus one specified specialist - graphical detailing. In the second and final year students will cover four specified specialist units: Project management. Surveying in construction. Building technology. Building surveying. Plus two optional units to be agreed by the course tutor. A Course for Trainee technicians in Architecture, Building or Building Control, Quantity or Land Surveying and Environmental Health. Also unemployed status students may be eligible to embark upon this course. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at Grade C, or equivalent, or a BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in Construction or Engineering, or City & Guilds Advanced Craft in Brickwork or Carpentry and Joinery. Assessment Continuous assessment. Progression after Programme As is the case for all National Certificate and Diploma courses, the Certificate in Construction (Building Studies) will provide a route to Higher Education to follow Higher National Certificate or Diploma Courses, or Degree Courses, and a large proportion of successful students choose to take advantage of this opportunity to move into Higher Education.
