Construction and the Built Environment (Subsidiary Diploma)

This is a one year part-time programme with the option of studying on a day release where you will come into college for one full day and evening per week over one year or on evening only where you will attend college for two nights per week over one year.

The course is made up of 6 units :-

All students study these 6 units

• Health Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment
• Sustainable Construction
• Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment
• Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment
• Construction Technology and Design in Construction and the Built Environment
• Surveying in Construction and the Built Environment

There will be lots of opportunities for visits to Construction Sites and Building/Sustainable exhibitions within the region and you may be given the chance to undertake a valuable work experience placement

You need:-

a) Level 3 in a construction related area

or

b) Mature students with experience in the construction industry

The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment is a practical work related qualification available to a wide range of students built to accommodate the needs of employers and allow progression to University. It provides a practical, real world approach to learning alongside a key theoretical background

Day release – one full day and evening per week over one year or evening only – two nights per week over one year

Students are continually assessed through coursework assignments

The qualification is mapped to several courses in Higher Education at the University Centre at Blackburn College. This provides an easy progression route for the subject chosen and gives you a strong foundation for degree level study.
