This managing people course is designed to help line-managers and supervisors meet their key responsibilities to provide good management to their staff - helping them to perform effectively with enhanced job satisfaction.Emphasis is placed on taking a pro-active approach to motivating and developing people and to adopting appropriate and flexible management styles based on the concept of 'differential leadership'.The course also focuses on the central role of performance appraisal systems and how line-mangers can get the best out of them integrating them with their everyday management of staff.

Course Methods

Case studies and role-plays provide a framework for exploring issues and reviewing skills. The course also makes use of informal lecture, group discussion and training films.
