The Animal Management Course gives you the knowledge,
understanding and skills that you need to prepare for working with
Animals.

The Programme
The Animal Management Course gives you the knowledge,

Animals.

specialist Animal based agencies. The Extended Diploma consists of
eight Mandatory Units and ten optional units.
The optional units are chosen to reflect local needs.
The Mandatory Units are:
1. Animal Health
2. Animal Biology
3. Animal Anatomy and Physiology
4. Animal Handling and Safe Working
5. Animal Feeding
6. Animal Accommodation
7. Personal Project
8. Work Experience
The optional units will be chosen from:
Animal Nutrition; Animal Nursing; Animal Behaviour and
Communication; Pet Store Design and Animal Management; Dog
Grooming; Animal Training; Kennel and Cattery Management
When studying this course you will also have a specialist Tutor to
help support you and study a number of shorter courses which will
help your employability skills to progress onto employment or onto
higher education.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
If you are currently in education and applying for the Extended
Diploma you will need one of the following Entry
Qualifications:
Five GCSEs at A-C
A full Level 2 vocational qualification at merit or above.
If you are a mature applicant you will be considered on your
previous employment, experience, education and achievements.
Costs
There could be extra costs incurred on this course for:
1. Practical clothing (which you may already have).
2. Transport to external specialist facilities work placement
3. A practical residential week.

Progression
Once you have successfully completed the Animal Management Level
3 course you will have the equivalent to three full A Levels and
could progress onto one of the following:
1. Full or part time Employment if you are able to secure a
job.
2. University to study for a foundation degree or full degree.
3. Other Level 3 courses within Petroc.
Your personal tutor will give you lots of advice and guidance on
what you could go onto. They will also help you apply for
progression.
You will also do work experience whilst completing your Level 3
course which will help you decide what you want to do, as will the
visits and Residential.
Length of Study
This course is usually studied as a full time two year
programme.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2013 / 2014 academic year.
