Course Content

Core Units:

• Working Safely and Effectively in Engineering
• Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
• Mathematics for Engineering Technicians

Additional units in a range of engineering disciplines are offered. These include topic areas such as:

• Applied Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering
• Using Computer Aided Drawing Techniques in Engineering
• Selecting and using secondary machining techniques to remove material
• Operation and Maintenance of Electrical Systems and Components
• Fabrication Techniques and Sheet Metal Work
• Electronic Circuit Construction.

If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.

Course Aims

The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Engineering has been developed in the engineering sector to provide opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocational specific qualification to enter employment in the engineering sector or to progress to Level 3 studies. The course provides opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities essential for successful performance in working life.
